The glaze has a slight overall sheen. British potter, David White started the Thanet Pottery in Margate Kent in 1961. Later opened the Broadstairs Pottery in 1968 where he produced his beautiful crackle finish porcelain pots. He used porcelain with blended glazes to produce the crackle effect.
After firing they were rubbed with carbon based ink which was then washed off. This produced the reticulated crackle pattern.
